Bau Gallery is pleased to present 2 solo exhibitions by invited artists Joyce Pommer and Elisa Pritzker in their space in Beacon, NY.
In the Front Gallery, Pommer’s new abstract mixed media paintings reflect an evolving use of space on canvas and wood panels. Incorporating fabrics, papers, string and other materials, she is finding new relationships between them as they move in the space. These pieces are more minimal and less colorful than past works but define a deeper space exploring the positive and negative in the application of the materials being used. Using more of the white space of the surface, these mixed media works are visually strong yet fragile. Joyce lives and works in New York City. www.joycepommer.com
In the Project Room, Pritzker’s new works continue in the arena of photography on canvas but she is now closing in on the skins of her animal friends and the respect she has for them. “Inspired by the ever-amazing animal beauty, I portray what already is with the intention to awake true compassion towards the natural world.” These pieces become abstractions with their shapes and textures and draw one in to explore the contents - as always she is making strong statements with minimal imagery. Other works on view include mixed media sculptural forms and an installation with deer antlers.
Elisa has 2 major solo exhibitions this year in Buenos Aires, Argentina: ArtexArte Gallery, Buenos Aires Argentina and Galeria de Arte CorporaciĆ³n Buenos Aires Sur S.E. Argentina. She lives and works in Highland, NY. Portfolio at: www.elisapritzker.com
